Holiness to the Lord the House of the Lord: My love for the Temple

Ever since I have joined the Church I have thought temples are the most beautiful buildings in the world. It is a goal of mine to visit as many temples as I can before I leave this world!

Yesterday I had the amazing opportunity to enter the Los Angeles temple and receive my endowments. I loved it and hope that each of you make it a goal to enter the temple. I have never felt so beautiful, loved, and comfortable in my life.

"I love the temple. Not because I understand everything, but because of the peace I feel when I am there."

~ Sister Melisa Kozak

Could not have said it better myself <3

The Temple is no longer just a beautiful building I used to admire: it is now my home, my school, my sanctuary, my little piece of Heaven, and my castle. It is my favorite place in the whole wide world.  I hope one day to marry my Prince in there.

"I love to see the temple, I'm going there someday. To feel the Holy Spirit, to listen, and to pray. For the temple is a house of God."

I'm so glad my "someday" was yesterday. I love the Temple and I love the Lord! God be with you all <3

Once Upon A Time: Why I Chose To Serve A Mission

There was a girl named Carly Upton. She was exceptionally ordinary. She did the same routine every 16 year old girl did: she went to school, hung out with friends at lunch, browsed Tumblr, stalked pretty girls on Facebook, tired that thing called dating, attempted her homework, and attended the same boring parties every Friday night.

Then

She met a boy. Who seemed quite ordinary too, but he wasn't. Not at all. In fact, he was quite extraordinary. Which doesn't mean extra-ordinary. He was different than anyone she had ever met and he had something she wanted. Happiness. It used to just be a 9 letter word she heard people dream about. A pursuit of happiness. A synonym to joy. A purpose for life. An ultimate goal. It was something she wasn't too familiar with, until she was with him. She finally felt what every one dreams about.

She forgot about the views of the world, the pressures of society, the drama of high school, and the expectations of everyone else. She didn't care about any of that anymore. She was done being ordinary, and she discovered that she really hadn't been all along.

Of course they fell in love and dreamed of starting a future together, but life took its toll. They faced challenges, none greater than the rest of humanity faces. But they never gave up on each other because they knew who they were, what they had, where they came from, and where there were going. They knew all of this because they had faith in one person: Jesus Christ.

Christ

Is the reason I'm here today writing this post on this very blog. Christ is the Only Begotten Son of our Father who is in Heaven. He came down on this Earth to atone for the sins and pains of the world. He did this so that we could return to live with our father in Heaven again. He not only suffered for our sins so that we can be made clean but He suffered for all of our pains and trials so that we never have to feel alone. Find out more HERE!

Christ has given me everything and I want to show the world how much better they can become if they follow Him. I didn't become extraordinary because I followed that boy, I became extraordinary because I followed who he followed: Christ. To show my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ just how thankful I am to be apart of their church and eternal family I have chosen to serve a mission.

What's A Mission?

A mission (for LDS members) is an opportunity for young men and women to share the restored gospel to all people living on this Earth. We leave our families, cellphones, computers, and most of our other personal belongings behind so that we can serve Christ to our full ability. But serving a mission isn't about what we are giving up, its about what we are gaining. Often times missionaries gain new friendships, learn a new language, live in different countries, help people over come addictions, help people over come trials, become closer to their loved ones, and become closer to their Heavenly Father. The blessings of heaven pour down on those missionaries serving.

What Do The Missionaries Do?

Easy. We help people by sharing the message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. We serve in all kinds of ways. We talk to people with questions about our church. We share with them the blessings held within the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. We help build homes after tragedies have struck. We invite others to come unto Christ and follow his example by being baptized. We follow Christ and help others in every way we can. There are lots of people to bless. Lots of lives to change. There is lots of work to be done!

Why are you serving?

When I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I knew I wanted to serve a mission. The happiness this gospel brings me is unreal. I want to serve a mission because I know that this church is true. I know it. I live it. And I love it. I want others to feel the pure happiness I have felt from being a part of this church. I want to help others come closer to Christ and I want to be the person my Heavenly Father wants me to be. The Church is true, the book is blue, and I'm a missionary too!
